Overview
Description
This Course combines a survey of the important theological, philosophical, and cultural notions of music and its use in the church with practical instruction in pastoral music, choosing appropriate hymns, and music for special occasions, working with professional and amateur church musicians, and employment issues. This course is the second in a two-semester sequence that expands students’ knowledge of topics related to church music for understanding and future application in the church environment. Students study, prepare, and refine the skills required for the music director and other leadership positions. Presentations of church music-related topics and areas of interest will be conducted.Prerequisite(s): MUSC 4201 with a minimum grade of C.
